In 1985, at a time when there were 1,000 cases of polio reported in the world EACH DAY, Rotary International pledged to all the children of the world… WE WILL ERADICATE POLIO.
Since that time, we have eliminated 99.99% of all polio cases - to the point that there have only been 10 (ten) cases reported as of the end of June 2026.
Rotary Clubs across Wisconsin are joining forces with clubs globally to host the World's Largest Polio Walk on Saturday, October 24th, 2026. This massive, synchronized event kicks off statewide at 10:00 a.m. Central Time, aiming to raise crucial global awareness and vital funds to eradicate polio worldwide.
In Fond du Lac, the Fond du Lac Morning Rotary Club and the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Club are partnering locally to sponsor the city's walk. The event will take place at the Stayer Center on the Marian University campus, featuring a 1.5-mile walking route entirely on the campus grounds.

All funds raided through the walk will go directly toward Rotary International's End Polio Now campaign, contributing to global immunization tracking, research, and community mobilization efforts. Thanks to a matching agreement with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, every dollar raised during this event will be matched 2:1, tripling the impact of the Fond du Lac community's contributions.
